If you've been to any thrift store lately, you've probably seen countless pieces of furniture that look like they're on their last leg. Gail with My Repurposed Life, however, saw this $15 mid-century hutch and knew exactly how to make it look brand new again! Even though this is a large piece, the steps to transform it were simple:
1) Remove the glass panes and all of the hardware from your hutch
2) Thoroughly clean your piece with a degreaser/cleaning solution. As Gail says, you never know where your thrift store find has been!
3) Use the Finish Max Super paint sprayer to lay down a beautiful finish on your piece. This handy tool is great to have for these types of projects!
4) Replace your hardware and glass panes. Gail chose to not put the glass panes back onto the hutch. This allows the piece to look more open and unique!
After just a few coats of paint, this hutch looks brand new! Next time you're at a thrift store, don't walk past that lonely, old-fashioned piece of furniture. Take it home and upcycle it! It is a great, inexpensive way to add a Do-It-Yourself project to your home. To read more about how Gail transformed this hutch, head on over to her blog.
