Project Steps

Intro

Nobody likes to spend hours cleaning their oven, right? Why not make the job easier with the HomeRight SteamMachine. It sanitizes, scrubs, and does all the hard work for you AND is done without toxic chemicals. Win!

Step 1

Begin preparing your SteamMachine by filling it with distilled water using the funnel and measuring cup provided. Be sure to not overfill and to tighten the cap on the reservoir to prevent and steam from backing out.

Step 2

Attach the appropritate nozzle to the SteamMachine gun and the accomanying tip. For my project, I used the crevice tool for nooks and crannies, the black brush for overall dirt and grime, and the squeegee attachment for glass and smooth surfaces. Press the button to activiate and two lights will be lit. When the yellow light turns off the steam machine is ready. While in use, the light will turn on to let you know it needs a minute to build up steam and will switch off again when ready.

Step 3

Next, prepare your oven for cleaning. Using a dry cleaning cloth, wipe down your racks and any loose debris in your oven before using the steam machine. You can clean your racks separately or leave them in and clean, then remove to access the rest of the oven for cleaning. When ready, begin by starting at the top and working your way down the oven walls.

Step 4

Work in small batches of areas by steaming/scrubbing and then wiping away the dirt and grime with a clean cloth. You will be amazed at how fast the process really goes. The best part is that it is all chemical free! {{fist pump action}}

Step 5

Once done with the interior of your oven, you can begin to work on the doors and exterior parts. You may need to disassemble you door in order to get between the layers of glass. Just be sure not to steam your electronic panels as we want a working oven AND a clean oven. haha.

Step 6

After you've addressed all the areas, you can step back and give yourself a pat on the back for not only a job well done, but for doing the safe and non-toxic way. Having a clean oven keeps your appliance in tip-top shape to last for many years, and operating safely. I know I'm a happy mama when all is said and done because I didn't spend hours scrubbing my fingers to the bone to avoid using chemicals that would bake into my food and pollute my home.

Step 7

Making your house your home can be easy on the budget, give you a wonderful learning experience, AND be fun! Be sure to come see me and my family of 8 over on my blog, Prodigal Pieces, where I share a full video tutorial on this project. We have much to share with you about DIY projects, redeeming furniture, and even how to cook a healthy meal for you and your family. Happy cleaning!
