Learn how to create a cute and easy DIY door mat to coordinate with your front door decor/style in just just a matter of minutes.
Start by heading up to Target and grabbing a blank door mat. They cost $10. You'll also need a stencil of choice and craft paint. I already had all the items I needed, minus the door mat, but JoAnn's and Michaels carry a variety of cute, seasonal stencils in 12x12 sizes that will work perfectly for this project.
Next up, I tape my FolkArt stencil onto the doormat and then use paper to cover up the other open spaces. I then place it in the HomeRight Spray Shelter and plug my paint sprayer in to gently start spraying the stencil from directly above (so as not to lift the stencil).
I used about 1-2 cups of white craft paint and added about 1 tbsp of water to it to thin it out for the sprayer.
Once you've gently sprayed your stencil, I lift it up to check to make sure everything looks ok then pull it off of the door mat.
Finally, I decided to take yellow, orange, red, and green craft paint and fill in the external ring of leaves by hand to add an autumn look to the door mat.
One of the things I like best about this is the ability to customize your design to the color scheme that you so choose.
Let your design dry overnight and then place outside with your favorite fall mum to get the perfect fall front porch look!
This is an easy way to customize your front door with a seasonal door mat matched to your favorite color scheme and style!
