Materials Needed:
  • ElectroLight
  • Charcoal Briquettes
  • Cast Iron Dutch Oven
  • Cake Batter of Your Choice

Project Steps

We tend to cook outdoors often in the summer because we don't want to heat up our house. We barbeque and use Dutch ovens. One of my favorite things to cook in the dutch oven is cake or cobblers!

The ElectroLight heats up the briquettes fast without having to use any chemicals. If you have never cooked in a Dutch Oven, let me show you how easy it really is!

Step 1

Start Your Fire with the ElectroLight

Fill your firepit area with as many briquettes as you need. Plug in the ElectroLight and allow it to heat up. Point it at the briquettes and squeeze the trigger. The hot air will get the charcaol glowing before you know it!

Step 2

Mix Your Batter

While you are waiting for the charcoal to turn gray, mix up your cake batter. I chose a blueberry lemon cake!

Step 3

Put the Batter in the Oven

Add your cake batter to the Dutch oven and put the lid on. Put half of the briquettes underneath and the other half on top.

Step 4

Let it Bake

Keep an eye on it, especially after the 10 minute mark, so you watch for when it is done. Lift the lid to check it.

Step 5

Enjoy Your Blueberry Lemon Cake

Once it springs back when you touch it, it is ready to enjoy! We covered ours in fresh friut and whipped cream.
