Project Steps

Here we are, already nearing the end of April.  We've had an interesting month here in Minnesota.  Just a couple of weeks ago we had a big snow storm and school got called off.  When you think of April you don't think of a foot of snow on the ground.

I'm happy to say that the snow is finally gone and it's really starting to warm up around here.  Today it got up in the high 70s!  It was so beautiful.  With warm weather, comes more painting projects!

Step 1

This month I wanted to redo a little end table that I've had for years!  I inherited this table from an old college roommate.  I have probably had this in my home for almost 10 years.  And it has looked very different throughout the years.

Step 2

This table holds a special place in my heart.  It was actually my first ever DIY project.  It was a plain wood table when I received it from my friend.  I loved the detail and thought it would look great if I painted it black. After a few years, I got tired of the plain black and wanted a pop of color so I painted it green.  And then it went back to black a couple of years ago.  Although, I did add a really fun foil decal on top for my living room reveal for the One Room Challenge.

Step 3

I loved the look of the table with the decal but it started peeling off, unfortunately.  I tried multiple times to fix it but I finally gave up.  I took it all off and because of that, it peeled some of the black paint off with it.

Step 4

It was time for an update.  I mean, if I stick to my transformation schedule it's about every couple years I redo this end table!  Ha!  To start I gave it a quick sand with my Ryobi Orbital Sander.

Step 5

After the top was sanded, I wiped off all of the dust and placed it inside of my Medium Spray Shelter.

Step 6

Although I have already painted it black in the past, I decided to use a different type of paint this time.  I have never used chalk paint in the Super Finish Max before so I really wanted to give it a try.

Step 7

One of my favorite perks of the Super Finish Max is that you don't have to thin the paint beforehand.  I just poured the Wise Owl Chalk Synthesis Paint right into the container.

Step 8

All that's left to do is paint now!  I quickly painted this table in about 5 minutes!

Step 9

You can see that I missed a few spots the first time around.  So I made sure to cover every area.  If I would have painted this by hand it would have taken me about 45-60 minutes.  I love that my Super Finish Max is such a time saver!

Step 10

You are now left with a beautifully clean painted end table.  It's as easy as that!
