Project Steps

Cleaning windows does not have to be a chore if you use this little trick to clean them with the HomeRight SteamMachine.  It makes cleaning windows easy and can even remove hard water stains with no chemicals and no scrubbing.

I love using the HomeRight SteamMachine for jobs like this because it is really easy to use, but the results are always incredible.

Step 1

Begin by gathering all your tools. You will want a HomeRight SteamMachine, water and a microfiber rag (optional but recommended).

Plug the SteamMachine in and let it heat up completely.

Step 2

Place the squeegee attachment on top of the SteamMachine and then add water.

Step 3

You want to be sure to read the full instructions first to ensure that the temperature outside is within the recommended temperatures in order to avoid damaging your windows.

The beauty about cleaning windows in the fall is that you can often find the perfect temperature day to do this, but that is always harder to find in the summer or winter!  I headed out on a beautiful sunny, yet cool, Saturday and it was so nice to be outside while cleaning my windows in preparation for the winter months.

Once the SteamMachine is fully heated up, pull the trigger and steam and squeegee the window in one motion!

The hot steam will cut through grease, dirt, grime and even hard water to leave your windows clean without scrubbing.  Steam can also sanitize, so just in case you want to be adventurous and do both the outside and inside of your windows (which I highly recommend doing while you are tackling this job), you can also have deep cleaned windows without a lot of hard work.

Step 4

You don't need to do this, but I like to take a microfiber rag and just quickly remove any remnants of steam or water from the window for a perfectly spotless finish! It is the final touch that ensures a beautifully cleaned window.

When it comes to fall cleaning (yes it is a thing, and so is Winter Cleaning and you can read more about it HERE), the thing I hate most is windows.  Summer sun + water from sprinklers often means that the outside of my windows are looking pretty bad this time of year.

So in an effort to make fall cleaning feel not so bad or overwhelming, I pulled out one of my favorite HomeRight tools and am excited to share with you how I washed our windows a bit more easily this fall.  Read on to learn more about how and why this is the best way to wash your windows this fall.
