Project Steps

One of my biggest household struggles is keeping my things nice and clean with two crazy kids running the house. Inevitably I'm fighting with a stain here or there each week trying desperately to get it out before it sets in permanently.

The most frustrating of stains is when they happen to the furniture though because, let's face it, furniture is a big investment and it's painful to see it get ruined over one simple accident.

This week my son decided to eat his Moose Tracks ice cream on my microfiber recliner and ended up dropping a chocolate chunk that he allowed to sit there and melt overnight (don't ask me how that happens), so now I have a beautiful chocolate chunk stain on my chair.

I thought I'd show you guys how to clean a microfiber couch (or chair) using a simple trick and my HomeRight SteamMachine.

Step 1

Spray with Rubbing Alcohol

*Start by testing a small area on your microfiber couch before you do this to ensure that it doesn't have an adverse reaction--it worked great on mine*

Using a spray bottle, spray down the stained areas with rubbing alcohol and let sit for a few minutes.

Step 2

Scrub with SteamMachine

Take your HomeRight SteamMachine and a rag and use the scrubbing tool to gently steam the spot, scrub it lightly, and then use the microfiber rag to wipe up any remaining residue.

Step 3

Repeat and Marvel at Results!

Repeat this on all the spots on your couch, gently scrubbing each one until clean. Then let dry.

Steam kills 99% of the germs on contact and the HomeRight SteamMachine comes with all the tools you could ever need to get the job done!! Cleaning a microfiber couch with running alcohol and steam is SO simple and so effective, you'll be amazed how easily the stains come out!
