  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon Dawn
  • 1 cup hot water
  • Aluminum Foil
  • Old toothbrush, towel, and bowl
  • HomeRight Steam Machine
  • Oven Mitt

Project Steps

With cold and flu season upon us, many of us are washing our hands more often and applying lotion more frequently too! All that soap and lotion starts to build up and all of a sudden we find our rings dull and dirty! But NOW you can clean your rings at home EASILY with a simple solution and your HomeRight Steam Cleaner! The solution gets the dirt and gunk loose and the steam cleaner helps knock it off and sanitize your ring.

Step 1

Warm up one cup of water until it's very hot.

In a separate bowl, line the bowl with aluminum foil and add your baking soda, salt, and Dawn soap. Then pour your water over top and mix well.

Step 2

Once solution is mixed, drop your rings in and let them sit for 30 minutes.

Step 3

After they have soaked for 30 minutes, you'll want to pull them out and gently use your old toothbrush to scrub at them. I scrub behind the back of the diamonds mostly to get out any loosened up dirt after the soak.

Step 4

After using the toothbrush,  I warm up my HomeRight Steam Machine and I steam clean my ring. I like to use an oven mitt and I hold the rings while I steam clean them for about 5 seconds, take break and switch sides, then go again. It helps brush off any remaining loose dirt, as well as kill any germs not the ring. The Steam Machine kills up to 99% of germs and is a great chemical free way to get your household items (rings included) sanitized without spending a fortune on chemical cleaners.

The oven mitt protects my fingers from the heat, but DOES get wet from the steam. The whole process is SO simple and your rings will sparkle and shine after you're done! NO trip to the jeweler needed!
