Project Steps

Whether you have a new or used RV or travel trailer, this is the perfect time of year to give it a deep clean!  I love cleaning without chemicals and I get the best clean and sanitization ever from using my HomeRight SteamMachine

I love that I can clean hard to get off dirt and grime of so many surfaces PLUS I can disinfect it to get rid of 99% of all bacteria in one simple step, without using harsh chemicals, and without spending a lot of time!

This is the best way to clean so many of the surfaces in our new (to us) trailer!  Follow along to learn more about why you should use a SteamMachine and how to do it easily.

Step 1

You will want to begin by cleaning out your RV.  You will want to remove any trash, clothing, food and pretty much everything that you can remove!

Next, I will bring out my vacuum and give my whole RV a good vacuum.  I like to turn over all the cushions, pillows, and beds to clean in every single crack and crevice.  I also like to open up the cabinets and vacuum them too.

Then you will prepare your SteamMachine Elite for use. I love the SteamMachine Elite because it comes with so many attachments that make it really easy to use and perfect for a job like deep cleaning your trailer! The SteamMachine Elite is very effective at loosening and helping to remove grease, grime and dirt.  The steam will also kill up to 99% of bacteria and dust mites! Which is a HUGE benefit of using a steam cleaner on surfaces in your RV like couches, dining areas and beds!

Simply place the attachment you want on your SteamMachine (I used both the fabric steamer attachment for this project).

Step 2

Next, you will want to fill your SteamMachine Elite with distilled water, close the cover, plug it in, and let it heat up!

Step 3

Once your SteamMachine is heated up, you are ready to begin!  You simply pull the trigger and use it to clean many surfaces of your RV!  Of course please check all of your manufacturer instructions to be sure that the surfaces are safe to use with water and steam.

A few areas that you should be able to clean are windows (if the outside temperatures fall within listed guidelines, check your manual), floors, upholstery, doors, seats and more!

Remember that you don't want to get any of your electical elements wet, so stay away from those and all other surfaces that aren't recommended to use high heat, steam or water on.  (I stayed away from laminated surfaces and pleather surfaces.)

Step 4

You can definitely sanitize all of the beds with the SteamMachine too!

Once you have steam cleaned an area, take a rag,  microfiber cloth or paper towel and wipe it down.

Step 5

In under 30 minutes, I was able to clean and sanitize so many of the surfaces in our travel trailer!  It was quick and easy and I love that I know my trailer is clean and sanitized now!

There are a few more surfaces in our trailer that we did not clean with the SteamMachine (because they don't work well with steam) and so I am sharing how I cleaned the rest of those surfaces on my blog HERE.

With summer here it is a great time to bring out your RV, camper or travel trailer and give it a great spring cleaning!  I am sharing all of the details about how I cleaned and sanitized our new (to us) travel trailer today with step by step directions that make cleaning easy and quick.
