- Finish Max paint sprayer
We recently moved bedrooms around and are going to be redecorating the kids' rooms. Our boys have shared a room for their whole lives and this is the first time they have been in separate rooms. This meant the boys had more room, but it also meant we needed another dresser. We wanted something with clean lines and something in a medium grey. We liked the look of the TARVA dresser from IKEA and decided to buy it and paint it ourselves. We knew it would be a breeeze with the Finish Max paint sprayer!
We assembled the dresser, but decided to not assemble the drawers. The drawer bottoms were not real wood like the rest of the dresser and had a plastic coating that would not have accepted paint well. I placed the dresser and all the wood drawer pieces on a plastic tarp. I added pieces of cardboard under each piece so they would not stick to the plastic tarp after being painted.
I painted a couple of thin coats using the Finish Max sprayer. Once the paint was dry I needed to sand. The paint raises the wood grain and makes it feel rough. Use 220 grit sandpaper and lightly sand each piece. Wipe off the dust with a damp rag. Allow them to dry before adding the next layer of paint.
I laid out all the pieces again after sanding and cleaning them. They were ready for more paint!
Once the paint was all the way dry, we carried everything back inside and assembled the drawers. Once the dresser base was in place in the bedroom, the drawers were added. I am so happy to have the much needed storage for the boys' clothes. Look at gorgeous smooth finish!
