Intro

If you have kids, then you know that germs are just a fact of life. Whenever I do a major playroom cleanout and reorganize the kids' spaces, I always try to sanitize as many of the toys as possible. The HomeRight SteamMachine makes the job so easy! I love that it's a great way to sanitize without using chemicals, and it kills 99% of all germs and bacteria. It has wheels so you can roll it around with you as you use it, and it comes with several accessories so you're able to use it for a variety of purposes. It uses pressurized, high temperature steam too, so it really blasts any dirt and grime off the surface of whatever you're cleaning, requiring little to no elbow grease. I'm all about anything that makes my job easier, and this tool really does.

Step 1

First, fill your SteamMachine with water and then plug it in. Turn it on and wait for the orange light to go off, signifying that your SteamMachine is ready to use.

Step 2

For plastic toys like Mega Bloks, I typically either toss them in the bathtub to steam them or put them in a large plastic bin or tote. Then, shoot them with steam for several seconds.

Step 3

For smaller toys, I lay them out on a towel and steam them.

Step 4

I always allow the toys to air dry before placing them back in their baskets or bins.

Step 5

Now that the toys are sanitized, the "real" fun begins! Our playroom is still a work in progress, but I'm calling it a success since we can once again see the floor. The cube shelving was recently moved from our older boys' bedroom, and will soon have bins to hold smaller toys. The bookshelf is getting a bit full, so we will be rearranging some things, and adding more bins on the other side of the room. Lots to do, but I'm happy to say the toys are currently germ free! The great thing about the SteamMachine is that it's lightweight and portable, so every couple of weeks I can make my rounds through the playroom and give the toys a quick sanitizing. It's great for sanitizing baby gear and the high chair too! It's definitely a tool that should be in every parent's arsenal.

I recently started the not so fun task of cleaning and organizing our playroom from top to bottom. One thing I like to do periodically when I do a major cleanout is to sanitize as many of the toys as possible, and the HomeRight SteamMachine makes that SO easy! I have three boys, so germs are everywhere. Sanitizing is a must!
