Project Steps

Let's face it, we can't all afford to buy brand new furniture whenever we want. Although we'd all love to walk into an expensive furniture store without fainting when we see the price tag, the reality is that high-end furniture is a luxury that not everyone can afford.

Luckily, it's super easy to buy cheap furniture and then acheive the same expensive look! Rachel Teodoro recently shared her tips on how to buy discounted or thrift store furniture and remodel it to get the design you want. The best part? Even a beginner can do it!

How to Remodel Cheap Furniture to Get the Look You Want

There are a few tips that Rachel has when it comes to buying as-is or discounted furniture pieces from a big name store or thrift shop.

Patch it Up with Wood Glue/Filler

If your furniture piece has a few holes, cracks, dings, or dents, you can always patch it up with some wood glue or wood filler! That ding or dent might be the reason your furniture piece was discounted, but that doesn't mean you have to let it stay that way.

Paint it Pretty!

The best (and easiest!) way to transform furniture is to apply a new coat of paint. This simple fact is great for if you aren't loving the color of your furniture piece or if you need to cover up some dings and scratches.

Spray painting furniture with the Super Finish Max paint sprayer from HomeRight

The best tool to get this job done right is our Super Finish Max paint sprayer. It can be used with a wide variety of materials and requires little to no paint thinning! This sprayer also lays down a smooth, fine finish so you'll have a flawless surface every time.
