Front Porch Refresh with a HomeRight Paint Sprayer

Learn how to refresh your porch for the summer months using a HomeRight paint sprayer to apply a clean, new coat of paint that will make the wood pop!

I recently was able to help my mom out by giving her front porch a refresh. After 40+ years, her porch looked tired and shabby. But with some elbow grease and some paint, I was able to transform the outdoor space!

The siding was stained orange due to her well water being high in iron. I cleaned the siding as best I could. It still has some mild stains but from a distance it is not noticeable at all.

The railing was peeling and chipping pretty badly. Prior to my coming over, my mom had it professionally tested for lead. If you have an older home, make sure to test it before sanding or scraping the paint. You can buy a test kit online or at a big box hardware store.

I used the Wagner PaintEater to remove all of the loose paint. It was so powerful! The abrasive disks had the railing ready to paint in no time!

I hosed the railing off to get it as clean as possible. Once it was dry, I used exterior, paintable caulk to fill in any gaps or cracks.

After all the hard prep work, it was finally time for the fun part. Painting!

The Super Finish Max sprayer has different colored tips to use depending on what you will be using in the sprayer. Red is for primer and latex paint. Green is for latex, chalk and milk paint. Blue is for stains and polyurethanes.

The house got covered in plastic to protect from any overspray since it was a bit windy. I filled my paint sprayer with high quality exterior paint and got to painting the railing and posts. The Super Finish Max had the railing looking better than new after just a couple of coats.

No front porch makeover is complete without a fresh coat of paint in the front door! My mom loves pink and picked out a pretty blush shade. I used the Super Finish Max sprayer to quickly give the door new life.

My mom is so happy with the finished porch. Sitting out front in the evenings is one of her favorite things. I am happy that her porch is all refreshed and ready for summer.
