How to Get Orange Stains Out of Bathroom Tile Grout

Last year at mi casa we finished up our Tiny Master Bathroom Remodel where we gutted the bathroom down to the studs and started anew. We do our best to keep this room clean and tidy since it’s still the newest room in our home, but over the past few months I’ve started to notice that orange stains are lining the grout and tile nearest to the shower. We’ve tried cleaning with a rag and cleaner, but it doesn’t make any difference. I finally figured out how to get the orange stains to subside and it’s so simple I thought I’d share with you how to get orange stains out of bathroom tile grout using the HomeRight SteamMachine Elite.

WHAT ARE THOSE ORANGE STAINS ANYWAYS?

Orange stains can either mean mold or iron in the water that is discoloring your grout. In my case, I believe it to be iron in the water since we have tried cleaning this tile to no avail for quite some time.

HOW TO CLEAN ORANGE STAINS IN BATHROOM GROUT

I found my simple approach is the easiest and yielded great results. I cleaned orange stains outside of my shower and in my grout by using my HomeRight Steam Machine Elite, simple dish soap, and a washcloth.

The HomeRight Steam Machine Elite has all sorts of different nozzles and tools to tackle different jobs, but for this project I used this small nozzle to scrub quickly in small spaces and get those orange stains out!

I simply applied a little bit of dish soap directly onto the nozzle, then I turned the steam machine on and got in there scrubbing a little bit, then wiping up the water with a cloth, then scrubbing a little more. I quickly found out how effective the HomeRight Steam Machine Elite was with just a little bit of elbow grease and steam to get rid of the stains.

As you can see, I was able to get a good bit of it up with scrubbing and it’s much cleaner now, but the next step would be to buy a grout whitening product to completely get rid of the discoloration that the iron and/or mold caused. For now, the good news is that the grout looks so much better and I know it’s clean because the HomeRight SteamMachine Elite kills 99% of germs with steam alone!!

This is a time consuming job to get all the grout in the bathroom, especially if you have small tiles like we do, but it definitely does far better of a job than anything else I’ve done to try to clean the floors before.
